The Regeneration team have produced a number of reports related to the regeneration initiatives. We have provided a summary of these report below but. If you would like a copy of any of the reports please contact Gavin Russell on 0141 577 3499 or on

Levern Water Studies

The first Levern Water report, produced by Halcrow Consultants in May 2008 ran a number of scenarios on a model that identified the key areas along the Levern Water that could be affected by flooding. We are happy to report that while the regeneration project will not have an adverse impact upon existing water levels.

The second report was developed in conjunction with Scottish Water and provided us with information about any potential weak points in Barrhead’s drainage infrastructure. Again, the regeneration project was not forecast to have any detrimental impact upon existing infrastructure.

Town Centre Health Check

This report, produced by Hall Aitken Consultants, East Renfrewshire Council and Scottish Enterprise identifies the likely economic outcomes of the regeneration project in terms of training and employment opportunities and provided a summary of the anticipated financial value of Better Barrhead.

The report also established the first in a series of Town Centre Health Checks. These are surveys of the vibrancy and vitality of the town centre and they use indicators like pedestrian flow, number of rented shop units, the variety of shops and provision of suitable access routes to judge how well a town centre is doing in comparison to other areas.

Parking Study

This report was produced in February by Colin Buchanan Consultants and looked at current and future trends for car parking in Barrhead Town Centre.

Transport Study

Again, produced by Colin Buchanan, this report aimed to assess the impact of Better Barrhead on all transportation infrastructure in Barrhead. This comprehensive report contains a number of recommendations about network and road improvements that could help ensure Barrhead is able to meet future transport demands.

Barrhead Community Engagement Audit

More info on the Barrhead Public Spaces project can be found on the Community Places. The engagement project is being informed by a series of rules or standards set out in the National Standards for Community Engagement document (also available on request). This report is the first of a series of audits that will look at how successful we have been at engaging with the wider community.
